Preston and District Aquarist Society was formed in the early 1980's and held their first meetings at the "Golden Cross", Lancaster Rd, Preston. The society was formed with 12 original members, of which 2 are still members today (Steve Spencer and Phil Kay). Since those early days, the society has had fluctuating fortunes, but over the last 10 years the society has gone from strength to strength and at the present time there is a flourishing membership. Our society Meetings; The society meet on the first Tuesday in the month. Venue;- Free Trades Hall, Station Road, Bamber Bridge. Meetings start at 8.00 pm. Secretary TEL; 01772 321743 Membership Adult; £3 per year, renewable Jan 1st Meeting "mini auction" At the end of each meeting there is often a "mini auction" when members can sell some of their fish. Often a good variety of fish for sale, reflecting the members' various breeding interests and their involvement in an organised Breeders Programme. News... Breeders Programme. Breeding Programme Officer; Alan Vaissiere. There are 3 Judges who evaluate and give points to the fish breeders;- Bill Drake, Barry Booker and Brian Walsh. Congratulations to Alan Vaissiere who is the first member of the Breeders Programme to reach 1000 pts. As a token of recognition for this he was presented with a bottle of whisky by Preston Society. These events are well attended as can be seen in the photo below and there is always a good variety of fish at each auction.
