VENUE;Our society stopped having fixed meeting nights as so few people were turning up because we are very spread out in a rural area. If there is anything major that we want to discuss, we meet at my home, as and when necessary;-
Home/meeting- "Etrouvel", 7 Warrenhill Road, Greenlea, Collin, Dumfries DG1 4PW

Anyone interested in becoming a member is welcome, our membership is spread all over Britain so the majority of club business is conducted by telephone and meeting up at the various events, ie auctions, shows and general get togethers.

Secretary;- John Cowan. For further society details you can contact me by

Solway Aquarist Society was formed by a group of enthusiastic aquarists who were very keen on breeding fish and showing the results on the various Federation circuits around Britain. Our society is affiliated to FNAS, FBAS, USA and YAAS.
As well as the Showing aspect Solway also took part in Fish Festivals including entering tableau competitions. In 1980 "The Scotsman" complete with whisky barrel took third place.

Our Annual Show / auction is usually on second last Sunday of July.
* Check on Events page for details.
Venue; Barony College, Parkgate, Dumfries.
As can be seen from the photo, the auction is held in a superb countryside setting.

The auctioneer is usually Steve "and this pair's even better" Spencer. Seen here in full flow opening yet another Lot of fish. Meanwhile judges Steve Grant (Castleford AS) and David Marshall (Ryedale AS) are discussing the finer points of one of the show fish.

If you are interested in being part of our set up, (particularly if you feel a little "isolated" in rural Scotland!) please contact me. John Cowan
